--------------------------------------
I address you tonight, not as the president of the United States, or as the leader of a country, but as a citizen of humanity. We are faced with the very gravest of challenges. The bible calls this day Armageddon, the end of all things. And yet, for the first time, in the history of the planet, a species has the technology to prevent its own extinction. All of you praying with us need to know that everything that can be done to prevent this disaster is being called in to service. The human thirst for excellence, knowledge, every step up the ladder of science, every adventurous reach in to space, all of our combined modern technologies and imaginations, even the wars we have thought have provided us with the tools to wage this terrible battle. Through all the chaos that is our history, through all of the wrongs and the discord, through all of the pain and suffering, through all of our times, there is one thing that has nourished our souls and elevated our species above its origin. And that is our courage. The dreams of an entire planet are focused tonight on those fourteen brave souls traveling in to the heavens. And may we all, citizens the world over, see these events through, god speed and good luck to you.

BTW, I love that speech so much that I took the time to type it out by watching the video: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/584487/a rmageddon_armageddon/

Win for the speech and win for the movie.

OK, everyone knows that email spammers are pathetic, but I'm not sure everyone is aware of the extent of it.

Once upon a time, I used a certain email address. This was when I was about 11. I was young then, and I basically plastered the address all over the internet. I gave it out to any site that asked, used it for signups, etc. I started using the address sooner than when I was 11, but eventually the quantities of spam I was receiving daily was just unbearable. So, one day, I said enough is enough, got a new address, and put my old, spammed up address to rest. Also to note, this address was tied to one of my dad's domain names, a 4 letter one in fact, so it was a great address.

Fast forward 6 years. I now own the 4 letter domain that my old email address was at, so just yesterday I thought about re-creating the address on my server just to see what was doing there, and if it was still receiving spam. I was CERTAIN that after 6 years of no use, after not even existing, the address would not be receiving any spam. GOD was I wrong. So, I went into my server control panel, and created the old address on the domain that I now own. I start checking it, and to my unpleasant fucking surprise, IT IS STILL RECEIVING ABOUT 4 SPAMS PER MINUTE. Think how unbelievable that is. For SIX years spammers using the address were getting their emails returned, and the address wasn't in circulation for SIX years. I found it unbelievable.

The bottom line in that story is spammers are pretty fregin' stupid. Wherever they found/bought/acquired the address from, they were wasting their resources to send spam to a 6 year old, non-existent address. I imagine most of the addresses on their lists are that old, so I don't honestly see how they could be doing well if they can't even acquire a list of real email addresses.

Anyway, right now it looks like I'm going to have to retire this address FOR GOOD and just eat it. It's ashame though, so maybe in 10 years?

You might have noticed my cool new DFox character for my avatar picture.

It was created by the VERY talented ImpendingRiot! Be sure to check out his great work.

EDIT: I completely forgot to say why he made it... We were all set to do the Flash regs collab together but unfortunately his graphics card conked and he's left without being able to use Flash :( He had that part done before, so I decided to put it to some use.

You can see his full version bellow this post.

The cool DFox avatar...

It's crazy. I usually never have to work from anywhere but my house, but today I had to. I missed the launch, but I'm here now to see it!!

This is basically a test post.
